Since my diagnosis with breast cancer on October 2017, I have been working on a series of paintings, expressing my feelings and emotions during this time. I feel compelled to exhibit them as a way of sharing my experiences – most of which many have been incredibly positive.
I have learned so much about myself through this journey, as well as about general health, mindfulness and spirituality. Having discussed this with numerous women on a similar journey… this exhibition “A Hymn to Her” was initiated. By the way… I realise that I’m still in Grade R in the school of life.
It is a reflective response to my journey with breast cancer and includes works of art by local artists, my daughter and poets on a similar journey
Unfortunately, everyone’s lives are touched by cancer these days, so this exhibition hopes to create a space of reflection, understanding and empathy towards those that have gone through the disease, those that are currently and those that will. Not only for the patients but also for the loved ones, carers and physicians.
The exhibition “If Not Now…When?” will show about 40 of my more recent paintings, with a few signature pieces as well. It will consist of large portraits, scapes as well as other subjects reflecting my life.
